Don Pepin Garcia Blue Label Invictos

This cigar is in my Top 5 favorite cigars. Great full-bodied taste with a nice spiciness and complexity.

Picture:
Initial Impressions: I've really enjoyed a lot of Pepin's blends including this one, I don't know if it's the name or the actual cigar. This was a nice robusto here with a fairly smooth corojo wrapper that had a few bumps and a nice oily sheen, some veins but no blemishes whatsoever, and had a mild pre-light aroma to it.

Smoking: This cigar had a very nice draw, not too loose not too tight, that gave a generous amount of smoke from start to finish. The ash was a firm light grey that stayed up to an inch before I ashed it myself. The burn was cool and slow, no hot burners here. The burn was also fairly even for most of the smoke, some uneven parts, but it fixed itself and no touch-ups were needed. The wrapper behaved well and did not unravel also. A very well constructed smoke here.

Taste: This smoke was on the lite side of full but was smooth and never became harsh. I would say for the first half of the smoke the cigar had a lot of spice to it and a "woody" taste, almost cedar-like. The finish was very sweet, smooth, and pleasant and had that full tobacco taste and stayed on the palate for a long time. At around the second and third picture the cigar really became complex, I still could taste the "woody" falvor, but it became much more full. I could also taste some coffee-like flavor here and a very rich and sweet tobacco flavor. There was no more spiciness to the flavor, but the finish retained some spiciness and remained full and sweet for the rest of the smoke. These flavors were predominant in the second half of the smoke. The cigar gave off a sweet and full tobacco aroma.

Conclusion: I have found that these sticks are very solid and enjoyable for about the first half of the smoke. Once you get into it, however, the smoke becomes another monster. Lots of complexity in the second half that had my senses going for a bit of a ride. The ones from this box have been very smooth and consistent.
